Galvanised sheet, formally known as galvanised steel sheet, is manufactured by uniformly coating the surface of a cold-rolled or hot-rolled steel substrate with a layer of metallic zinc through specific galvanising processes (such as hot-dip galvanising or electrogalvanising). This creates a metal sheet with outstanding corrosion resistance. Typically supplied as individual flat sheets (distinguished from coiled ‘galvanised coil’), its core function lies in the zinc layer's ability to isolate the substrate from air and moisture. Simultaneously, it leverages zinc's ‘sacrificial anode effect’ (where zinc corrodes preferentially, shielding the substrate from rust) to significantly extend the steel's service life. This makes it a widely used corrosion-resistant sheet material across industrial and domestic applications.
