What is cold-drawn wire?
2025-09-15 10:32:15

Cold-drawn wire is produced by drawing wire rod (hot-rolled wire) through a die at ambient temperature following surface treatments such as pickling, phosphating, and soaping. The cold-drawing process yields wire with precise dimensions and a smooth surface, while simultaneously inducing work hardening to enhance strength and hardness. Cold-drawn wire finds extensive application in construction tie wire, nail manufacturing, wire mesh, springs, steel wire ropes, and other fields. Depending on application, it can be categorised as standard cold-drawn wire, high-carbon cold-drawn wire, galvanised cold-drawn wire, etc.
